Flowing Heat Lab 11.9.11
Part 1: Flowing Heat
Conduction: heat transfer from one object to another (direct contact)
Heat: movement of molecules in a substance

1. Which object held the most thermal energy at the begining of this activity?
The metal container held the most heat at the begining of this activity.
2. Describe the flow of energy or the conduction of heat that occurs in this activity.
The heat from the metal container was transferred to the ice.
3. If ice represents cold water currents and the metal container represents the land, what does this model show about the effect cold water currents have on the weather of a coastal area.
The land would give off heat which would be transferred to cold water. Once the heat is gone, then the land will begin to cool. Ocean currents affect climates.
